Stuart Goldman came to Sky & Telescope in 1986 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park, earning degrees in astronomy and journalism. For three years in college, he worked part-time at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center as a programmer and data technician. He was also the Science Editor for the campus newspaper The Diamondback during his senior year.

Stuart has an ardent interest in online communications and resources on the Internet. At Sky & Telescope Stuart writes the Astronomy Online column, as well as the blog on SkyandTelescope.com.

In 2003 the International Astronomical Union named asteroid 10153 Goldman in his honor. The minor planet was discovered in 1994 by S&T colleague Dennis di Cicco.
